In 2017, the event was held in  Barbados.

On June 18, 11 members of the Garden Club of London left for Barbados to attend the 12th World Association of Floral Artists Flower Show. Lorraine Peters, Val Smith and Brenda Symns, who had won 1st prize in Class 13 ‘Canada Is’ at the Garden Clubs of Ontario Triennial Flower Show in 2016, replicated their design for the International Exhibit. Three of our members did exceptionally well with their designs. Lorraine Peters won a 3rd and Audrey van Holst won a commended for their designs in Class 22 ‘Perfection’ and Shirleyan English won a 3rd for her design in Class 13 ‘Smooth Sailing’.  Other members who entered were Irina Code, Angelique Ellerton, Jeanne Anne Goldrick and Val Smith in Class 2 ‘Gems’; Janice Maciver in Class 13 ‘Smooth Sailing’; Angelique Ellerton, Brenda Symns and Sandy Wilson in Class 14 ‘State of Bliss’; Linda Hawker in Class 18 ‘Idyllic Dawn’. We all had a great time in Barbados. Eight of us stayed at the Bougainvillea Beach Resort which had lovely pools surrounded by various colours of Bougainvillea.                     On the last day of our stay in Barbados we all went on a tour of three gardens – Orchid World, Andromeda Botanic Gardens and Hunte’s Gardens – all of which were spectacular.  All in all, a truly unique and wonderful experience.
